OLD BUSINESS

The TI 2007 bill has been paid by the Governor’s Crime Commission.

NEW BUSINESS

TI 2008.  Susan Walker reports that Division One is still moving along with their preparations trying to secure speakers etc.

She states that the block of rooms they secured for Tuesday evening prior to the TI has been increased and that rooms are still available.  They are still working on a Golfer’s Reception and that it will be in the price of the golfing package.  Others coming down early and wanting to attend will have a fee, but that this is still pending and in progress.

Latashia Williams asks the board to grant her division 150.00 to their Spring Workshop.  Maggie brewer makes a motion that each division be given 150.00 towards their Spring Workshop, Angela Armston seconds the motion.  Motion Carries.

Susan Walker reports that she has spoken to the person who handles our insurance for our members.  She states that each month she will give them the number of members and that she will be keeping the list of active members.  Right now the cost for our members is 1.05  per month.  We are looking into possibly securing a new insurer who could provide more/better benefits.  Discussion ensued and board was provided several options to look at.

Cathy Eagles made a motion that the insurance policy be changed to reflect the new price of 1.69 per month per member with the added benefits.  Maggie brewer seconded the motion, motion carried.  Susan Walker will forward this information to the provider on Monday.

The APPA National Conference will be held in Las Vegas this year.  Members can check their website for information.

Ronda Powell makes a motion that the Executive Board send President Rodney Trogdon and Vice-President Michelle Hamby as our representatives to the APPA conference held in Las Vegas and pay for all expenses incurred.  Maggie Brewer seconds, motion carries.

Probation/Parole Officer week is rapidly approaching and discussion was made as to what we can do for our members this year.  Board will look into options and decide later.

The NCPPA website is full of information for our members.  Division Three and Executive Board members will have their pictures taken soon for inclusion on the page.  If Division boards see any changes that need to be made they can contact the web designer by email.

Susan Walker states she spoke with Tim Moose and informed him that the Executive board would like to speak with him to discuss any new updates going on in the General Assembly.

There will be a meeting scheduled to review our constitution.

Scott Brewer reminds everyone that they can still send in articles to TALK up until the end of the month.

Susan Walker says she needs help from each Division for the TI 2008.  We as Probation/Parole Officers do so much each and every day and many people just do not realize what we do.  When things are done take pictures, remind everyone that NCPPA is working hard for them.  NCPPA was instrumental in obtaining for officers such things as being able to live within 30 miles of our duty station, new weapons, dress code changes and higher on call pay.  We want to try to do a presentation at the TI this year.

Latashia Williams makes a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ronda Powell.  Motions carries.

Meeting is adjourned at 1230 hours.

Faithfully Submitted,

Secretary Brian Holbrook
